The Missouri Association of Municipal Utilities |
MAMU |
The Missouri Association of Municipal Utilities is a state-wide trade organization open for membership to any municipality owning and operating their own utility including water, electric, gas, or wastewater. The Association's primary mission is to monitor legislation introduced in the state Legislature, keep its membership informed as to how the various pieces of legislation affect them, and to effectively represent the interests of the membership before the Legislature as directed by the Board. In addition, as a trade organization, the Association provides communication, education, training, and other self-help activities on a cooperative basis that individual members would not normally do by themselves in order to help the membership increase their effectiveness as individual operating utilities.
Membership in the Missouri Association of Municipal Utilities
Any municipally-owned utility may apply for membership in the Alliance. All members of the Alliance are considered members of the Missouri Association of Municipal Utilities (MAMU) and are entitled to services and expertise provided by MAMU, the Missouri Joint Municipal Electric Utility Commission (MJMEUC) and the Municipal Gas Commission of Missouri (MGCM).
Each member municipal is represented on the Board of Directors of MAMU. Full membership in the Electric or Gas Commission requires execution of a Joint Agreement, but there is no additional membership fee. Many services are available to all members without cost, and a variety of other programs are available on a fee basis. All members receive timely news and information through the monthly Alliance Advantage newsletter as well as other regular mailings. Contact the Alliance office for current dues information.
