EPA Hazardous Air Pollutant Rule
for Compression Ignition Reciprocating Internal Combustion Engines
In March of 2010 EPA finalized a rule requiring a reduction in emissions of organic compounds and metals coming from stationary engines that operate on compression ignition. The focus of the rule is on units of 300 hp or more (although smaller engines are covered) and which operate on either diesel fuel or a combination of diesel and natural gas. Full compliance is required by May 3, 2013.
These engines have often been used to provide power in communities throughout Missouri and currently there are well over 200 in some form of operation among MJMEUC members.
We encourage all members who have any stationary diesel fueled engines to become familiar with this rule.
This web page is designed as a central resource for our members to learn more about the rule, its implications, and implementation plans. It will be updated as new information becomes available from the EPA, from manufacturers, or from our own member’s experience.
Should you have questions, please don’t hesitate to contact MJMEUC and talk with either John Grotzinger (jgrotzinger@mpua.org) or Floyd Gilzow (fgilzow@mpua.org) at 573-445-3279.
