Nebraska City 2
![]() |
Nebraska City 2 is the 660-megawatt generating unit that Omaha Public Power District (OPPD) constructed adjacent to its Nebraska City Station Unit 1. The unit began commercial production of electricity in May 2009.
OPPD will use half of the output from Nebraska City 2 for its customers' needs while the remaining half will be used by seven other public power entities who are participating in the project. Those seven participants are Nebraska Public Power District, Nebraska City Utilities, Falls City Utilities, City of Grand Island Utilities Department, City of Independence (Missouri) Power & Light, Missouri Joint Municipal Electric Utility Commission, and Central Minnesota Municipal Power Agency.
