Loess Hills Wind Farm, located in Rock Port, Missouri, which began operation in March, 2008, consists of four, 1.25 MW Suzlon wind turbines. MJMEUC contracted with Loess Hills Wind Farm, LLC for the full output of these units. The energy from this farm is entirely for the members of MoPEP and the city of Rock Port. It began operation in March 2008.
In the first year of operation it had a capacity factor of 23% and supplied 71% of Rock Port’s yearly energy. In its best month it operated at a 36% capacity factor and supplied 117% of Rock Port’s monthly energy. MJMEUC was able to market the renewable energy credits from these units, yielding even lower energy costs to MoPEP members.
