City of Columbia, MO

Director of Water and Light

Possession of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering supplemented with a variety of training and/or education in Management or Business Administration and five years increasingly responsible administrative experience in utilities, preferably with electric utility emphasis. Thorough knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and methods; prevailing laws, regulations, and present trends related to electric, water, and rail utility operation; local government tax structure, industrial financing programs, and enterprise funding. Ability to analyze and evaluate complex engineering and operating issues, problems, and programs. Ability to successfully direct and evaluate subordinate personnel. Ability to establish effective working relationships with administrators, employees, legislators, boards and commissions, media representatives, and the general public. Ability to manage enterprise operations and major capital improvement projects. Registration as a Professional Engineer (Note: A charter amendment removing this requirement is on the April 6, 2010 municipal election ballot), with ability to be registered in the State of Missouri. Possession of a valid Missouri driver's license and an excellent driving record. Preferred deadline of Monday, March 29, 2010.

City of Milan

Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator


The City of Milan is seeking an experienced wastewater treatment plant operator to be the chief operator of its new Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) mechanical plant. The successful applicant will have a “B” level operator’s license issued by the State of Missouri, or its equivalent from other states, and will be required to demonstrate a commensurate level of experience. Experience operating a mechanical treatment plant is preferred. The City of Milan is an equal opportunity employer and offers excellent benefits.
